Chapter 4 - MODIFYING / REPAIRING / REMOVING INSTALLED SOFTWARE

You probably noticed that when you installed your software, you had some options for the database languages, and the install type for the server, and the location of the workstation application files. These options can be changed later. You can also repair or remove your BCPFI software. To Modify/Repair/Remove your BCFPI software, you need to use 'Add/Remove' Programs in your Control Panel.

Open the control panel

First, you need to open your control panel. Click on 'Start | Settings | Control Panel' on your Windows taskbar menu.

Run Add/Remove Programs

Next, double click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon.

Start the BCFPI Install in Maintenance Mode

This will open the "Add/Remove Programs" dialog. In the list of installed software, you should see either, "Indicator32 Software (Server)" or, "Indicator32 Software (Workstation)" depending on whether your computer has the BCFPI server or workstation components installed. Select whichever of "Indicator32 Software (Server)" or, "Indicator32 Software (Workstation)" you see, and press the [Add/Remove] button to start the BCFPI install in maintenance mode.

Choosing the Maintenance Mode

You will see a dialog like the one below that will allow you to Modify, Repair, or Remove the BCFPI software. If files have accidentally been deleted or corrupted, you can select the 'Repair' option. (NOTE 'Repair' can only replace missing application files. If you've deleted or corrupted your data, you'll have to restore it from a backup). If you want to remove the BCFPI software, select 'Remove'. WARNING: DO NOT UNINSTALL THE BCFPI SERVER COMPONENTS UNTIL YOU HAVE UNINSTALLED ALL BCFPI WORKSTATIONS, AND YOU ARE SURE THAT YOU NO LONGER WANT THE BCFPI SOFTWARE ON YOUR NETWORK. Select the Modify option if you want to change your install options. Press the [Next] button to continue.

If you selected the Repair, or Remove options, the install dialogs will guide you through the remaining steps. If you chose the Modify option, you will either see the Special Options install dialog for the server install options or the workstation install options. As long as the options are enabled, you can change them. Use the [Next] button and follow the install dialogs to complete the changes. (The remaining dialogs will look the same as the initial respective server or workstation installs).
